Most of you know I swam in high school. Swimming was a lot of my life during those 4 years of high school. With the Olympics going on, it's so easy for me to reminisce back to those days of competition and racing. Now I am no Michael Phelps or Dana Torres, but I had my own moments of glory.
I come from a small town where there was one high school; until my freshman year where I was apart of the new school North of town. We of course were the underdogs. I remember my sophomore year we were swimming the last relay of the meet, the 4X100 free. We weren't expected to win at all, especially with me, the little sophomore, swimming against some of the fastest girls I knew from Cedar High School. I was the last to swim in the relay and of course I gave it my all. Well, my all ended up out touching the other girl by .10 of a second. We won the Cedar High relay for the first time! I never knew I had it in me, but that started a good little rivalry with our competitors. (For those who remember, "BTB" was our lucky tradition!)
Cedar City also plays host to the Utah Summer Games, which is like a mini Summer Olympics. We loved it, being able to swim and play in the sun for 3 days straight. One year, somehow I ended up medaling in all my events. I think I may know how Michael Phelps feel, just a little. I really wasn't that good... my excuse is that not a lot of people were there! Summer 1999
I haven't been in the pool for several years. I guess I swam myself out. I opt to work out at the school gym instead. Well, wouldn't you know it that I got talked into doing the swim portion of the local triathlon that is coming up. (I really wanted to actually do the whole thing, but that isn't going to happen.) So I have 3 weeks to get back into swim shape to swim a .75 mile in the lake. I think it will be more of an adventure than anything! I went to the pool on Friday for my first time... It was very refreshing to be back although my arms have no muscle in them anymore.

Good luck with the race!! Can people come and watch :)
LOVE the medals! I heard a rumor that Cedar High brings water from their own pool to every meet they have and puts it in the pool they are racing in. WEIRDOS! (I hope CVHS didn't do that too!)
Good luck Jenny - that's so exciting. Who's doing the run and the bike?
