Meet Xela! (Pronounced Shayla)

We have been anxiously anticipating the arrival of our puppy!  Tyler's sister, Mandy, informed us in November that her golden lab had gotten pregnant from their neighbor dog, a golden retriever.  We have been in the market for a dog since we moved here, so it was the perfect opportunity.  We had a few months to prepare. 

Xela has the sweetest personality!  But, of course, we are in puppy times, which consists of house-training and a whole lot of biting and chewing.

Our friends decided to take one of Xela's brothers.  They decided to surprise their kids.  They named the little guy Duke.  We let the two pups get together every so often.  It's a lot of fun to see them wrestle and play like siblings.

We named her Xela, as that is a nickname for the city that Tyler served his mission in....Quezaltanango, Guatemala.  Xela comes from a local dialect and everyone down there calls it that.  

Xela has grown so much in just the few short weeks we have had her!  I need to get some more pictures!
