Halloween

Here's a little bit of our Halloween celebrations.  We have so much candy!!  Halloween is taking over the whole month of October.  Between the church party, school party, friend's parties and the real Halloween, I'm so ready to be done in the end!  It's been fun though!

Makenzie was a witch and wanted her face painted green.

It was just too cute to pass up.

 Jordan wanted to be a ghost. 

I made him the costume, but an hour before it was time to dress up he decided he just wanted to wear his Hulk costume from last year.  He informed me he will be a ghost next year!

Makenzie is in school all day.    Jordan goes to preschool in the afternoon and Gavin (thankfully) still takes a nap, so that gives me the mornings to hang out with just the boys.  We have a lot of fun.

Mom's mistake

Tyler had to work all weekend.  It was almost lunchtime and I decided I was going to take a shower.  The kids were happy and entertaining themselves, so I went for it.  While I was showering I heard a lot of commotion and I just kept wondering what I would find when I got out.  Seriously, how much trouble can they get into for 5 minutes?  Well, it always seems like they get into the worst trouble.

Gavin found some black acrylic paint that I had hidden, but Makenzie got out for a spider craft while I was in the shower.  She got distracted and Gavin decided to help himself to it instead.  He unscrewed the cap and did some finger painting.   This picture does not do justice at how bad it was!  He had paint all over the counter and on his clothes. Since I caught him pretty quick, the paint was still wet and not too bad to clean up.  Well, cleaning up black paint is bad, but you know what I mean!

I have gotten more sick with each of my pregnancies, but I seem to be handling it better for some reason. The blog has been lacking and sometimes the housework, but I always seem to catch up eventually.

I can't pass up the opportunity to mention that Tyler and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary this past week!  Wow!  It's so fun to reminisce on our days of dating, the engagement, and being 

newlyweds.  We have accomplished a lot in these last 8 years!   Our love continues to be stronger every day!

September Happenings

I've been slacking on the updates.  You now know my excuse.  Not many pictures have been taken this past month, but here you go!

We had an FHE night where we talked about putting on the armor of God.   The kids luckily had knight helmets and swords that went right along with it.  They had fun decorating their shields.

Gavin enjoyed transferring the stickers from the shield to his belly.

My dear parents are missionaries!!  

 

They have been called to serve at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Chicago, IL.  They went to the MTC for the first two weeks in September.  They then had 2 weeks before they had to report to their mission on October 1.  They made the 3 day drive out here and got to stay with us for a week before heading up to the Chicago area.  It was so nice to have them here.  Luckily the kids warmed up to them quick which made it fun.

We finally got our table that we ordered over 3 months ago!  We had to assemble everything.  My dad and I took an afternoon to put together 8 chairs!  We were pros in the end.

Here's what we got.  It is counter height and the middle of the table has a butterfly leaf.  We are VERY excited for our new table.  Our extra chairs go great with the kitchen island and the computer nook.  

Makenzie had an "Appalachian Day" at school.  She just called it pioneer day. Ha Ha!  She had to dress up and insisted that she had to wear a country dress, not jeans and a flannel shirt like I suggested.  We went to a goodwill store the night before and out of pure luck... there was only one dress and it was the perfect size for her for $2!  I made her the apron and she was ready to go!  She was the cutest little pioneer girl!

Toothless

 Makenzie's two front teeth have been loose for a really long time, but she would not make any effort on her own to get them out or allow us to help :).  We went to the dentist yesterday, and the dentist so kindly gave her some numbing gel and plucked them right out with no problem.  Makenzie says she wants to go to the dentist every time she has a loose tooth now.  They gave her a little tooth necklace to carry them in.
